MEET OUR UPPER CERVICAL DOCTOR

Collan Koeppen D.C. is honored to serve patients at

The Wellness Institute of America.

Dear Friend,

We are not meant to live in pain. Pain is a signal that something in the body is not right. When the body is imbalanced, something will hurt or wear out. You may not feel anything at first when you become imbalanced. Eventually, something will function improperly.

At 8 years old, I suffered a neck injury playing football. My head was stuck to the side for a week with an ear nearly touching the shoulder. Slowly, the head and neck went back toward the middle where it used to be, but not exactly. The medical doctor said I should be ok, and he was right. Afterward, I would often wake up before sunrise with a headache, and I couldn’t explain why.

The next school year my principal mentioned that I used to be nice last year, and asked me “what happened.” Nothing was wrong in my own eyes for the next 10 years, until severe pain and life stopping muscle spasms brought me to the ground. I wasn't properly corrected until I found an upper cervical specialist 20+ years later.

For years I suffered from headaches, muscle spasms, low back and knee pain, and even a broken foot while hiking with a heavy pack in the Marines - all related to my misaligned vertebrae, and the ensuing body imbalance. Every time I sat down my whole body would hurt, and I felt a knotting tension that would create a pressure in my head, depending on the amount of stress I was under. I thought my body was deficient in some chemical or pill.

What is Upper Cervical? Upper cervical means the top of the neck. The Atlas (C1) and Axis (C2) are the most often used vertebrae to gently reposition the head relative to the body. This correction creates a "domino" effect in the downward direction (with gravity). Brain to body communication is restored and the body begins to heal itself.

Upper cervical adjustments relieved my chronic pain, and I noticed related improvements in my mood, energy, and posture (body balance). Regular checkups made sure the process of healing progressed. Upper cervical care is different because it is much more comfortable to lie on your side like you are taking a nap, and receive a precise correction; than the twisting, popping, and forceful type of manipulation that many are wary of. The procedure is so light, at first I thought that nothing was done.

I had personally experienced and benefited from the twisting and cracking type of chiropractic, but many appreciate the lightest possible touch of upper cervical care. With a little patience and effort on your part, pains and concerns that are "downstream" often resolve naturally over time.

I once thought "how did my neck injury at 8 years old have anything to do with my headaches, low back pain and broken foot 10 years later..." I searched an additional 12 years before I finally found my answer.

Most people try 3-5 other methods to solve their problem, and then finally are introduced to the beauty and simplicity of having your nervous system maximized. Ultimately, the body will follow. Why don’t you check and see if the power is fully on in your own body?

Sincerely,

Dr. Collan Koeppen

See what our patients are saying…

“When Dr. CK told me that I’m not supposed to live life with pain – I laughed! I grew up knowing and accepting my migraines for 25 years, and made my pills a part of my life. It’s been 3 years now since I’ve been under his care and now I know how it’s like to live a life pain free. I will be forever grateful to you Dr. Koeppen!”
